Northeast Corridor FTA Categorical Exclusion

HBC supported evaluation of 13.5 miles of proposed commuter rail service along the existing Florida East Coast Railway corridor in Miami-Dade County.

The Northeast Corridor FTA Categorical Exclusion effort evaluated the impacts of implementing new commuter rail service along the existing Florida East Coast Railway corridor. HBC supported the planning team with traffic data collection, field review, and safety analysis across the study area.

Our work covered 76 study intersections and included turning movement counts, 72-hour approach volume counts, traffic signal pre-emption review, geometric data, field review of existing conditions, queuing data, and spot speed studies at 36 locations.

HBC also supported safety analysis for 52 state road intersections. The resulting data helped the project team understand existing transportation conditions, document operational and safety considerations, and support the environmental review process for a major transit investment in Miami-Dade County.
