NE 2nd Avenue Reconstruction

HBC is delivering the full design-build reconstruction of NE 2nd Avenue from NE 20th Street to NE 36th Street. The project is modernizing the corridor so it is safer, more resilient, and easier to navigate, while HBC coordinates the engineering, permitting, and construction documentation needed to move the work forward.

The reconstruction includes a full roadway rebuild with new sidewalks, curb and gutter, pavement markings, signage, and decorative lighting. HBC also designed a new stormwater system to address localized flooding. Utility improvements include approximately 4,600 linear feet of 16-inch ductile iron water main and 1,500 linear feet of 12-inch ductile iron water main, along with the required connections and fittings.

To support operations during construction, HBC designed new traffic signals, updated signing and pavement markings, and prepared Maintenance of Traffic plans for both vehicles and pedestrians. We also supported public outreach and stakeholder coordination. The finished corridor will deliver better safety, improved drainage, stronger pedestrian connectivity, and more reliable utility service.
